– By The Sentinel Priest Midan Haka
“We live in a world of whispers, half truth and carefully polished shadows. We spend so much energy dancing around the things that matter most, afraid the truth might be too heavy to carry. This dance stops at “ Facing a Bull by the Horns.
Here, we ask the questions you’ve thought about in private and we seek the answers that only comes when there is nowhere left to hide.”
We borrow from the philosophy of Darlan Rukih to answer these questions bravely:
MONDAYS – The Bull is, “Personal Life”
The bull is The person staring at you in the mirror – our own lives. To live well in this world you first have to be at peace with your skin. We don’t survive the day, we audit our habits and reclaim time. If you can’t lead yourself, you can’t lead anyone else. Let’s grab the horn of our lives and begin living well today.
TUESDAYS – The Bull is, “Family Life”
– History and blood should not be a battlefield. We head home. Family history can be a heavy weight and sometimes oldest relationships are the hardest to navigate. We look at the roots. We learn that living well starts with people who knew us first and have seen us at our worst. Is your home a refuelling station or a battlefield? Lets learn the art of living well with those who carry our hearts.
WEDNESDAYS – The Bull is, “ Social Life”
– We are stepping outside the front door to the laws of the land. We are part of a larger machine. We tackle the social contract, how do we live well as citizens? How do you be a good friend in a divided world. We are unified in diversity.
THURSDAYS – The bull is, “ Moral Life”
– Many see “abandoning evil” as a loss or a restriction. Here we view it as a the ultimate liberation. By dropping the weight of deceptive, stagnant and harmful behaviors you gain the agility to pursue a life of purpose. Facing a bull by the horns defines morality not as a passive state of being good but an aggressive pursuit of integrity.
FRIDAYS – The Bull is, “ Handling our enemies”
– The Bull of External Friction. Handling people who stand on our way, the ones who root for our fall and those who actively works against our peace. Often those against us highlight the very areas where we need to grow. We learn how to use their friction to polish our own resolve and render them powerless.
SATURDAY – The Bull is, “ The Afflictions of Darlan Rukih “
– We shall be looking at the scars of those who have walked the path before us. Darlan Rukih’s journey is not just a story of hardship, it is a blueprint of human struggle, resilience and ultimate test of character. We study those afflictions so that we don’t have to repeat the same mistake to learn the same lesson.
SUNDAYS – The Bull is, “ Wise Words of Darlan Rukih”
– We dive deep into profound insights and timeless observations of Darlan Rukih – words that serve as a compass for the soul and a feast for the mind.
When the noise of the world gets too loud, wisdom is the frequency that cuts through. We listen to the echoes of a mind that has seen the heights and the depths and let these words settle into our lives.
Wisdom is not a destination, but the lens through which we see the journey. We borrow the lens of Darlan Rukih to see the world as it truly is.
